This weekend we decided to take a break by visiting some beautiful and vibrant flowers on the Monterey Peninsula. Monterey is not very far for a day trip and today being sunny and Sunday was just perfect, to unwind after a hectic week. Visiting the wildflower fields is a yearly tradition in our household. This year it is the purple carpet of Drosanthemum along the rocky Pacific Coastal Highway at Ocean View Blvd, Pacific Groves, CA. The ocean looked beautiful in its Turquoise color. The wildflowers were not visible initially. As we drove further down to the Lovers Point at Pacific Groves, we found the landscape turning all purple. It was a spectacular combination of purple, green, and turquoise. The purple carpet is in its full form from Lovers Point to Asilomar State Beach. You can park your car along the way and walk or roll along the trail to get a closer look at the flowers in full bloom. These flowers open up midday and shut down in the evening for a good night’s sleep. Make sure to visit on a sunny day to really enjoy the full bloom.
On our way back we stopped at the Pacific Grove downtown for mouth-watering Gyros for lunch. We wrapped up the day early as I need to get ready for school tomorrow.
