As the lockdown continues, we are trying hard to keep our minds fresh and rejuvenated with different kinds of activities. We drive to new places that are within the driving distances to recharge ourselves.

Our so-called Joyrides are very special. All of us have our face masks on with windows closed and we don’t get down from the car at all to follow the social distancing rules.

Visiting the wildflower fields in springtime is a yearly tradition in our household. As this was the start of my spring break, we decided to visit beautiful and vibrant flower fields in the Monterey Peninsula. We drove along the rocky Pacific Coastal Highway at Ocean View Blvd. The purple carpet of Drosanthemum was in its full bloom from Lovers Point to Asilomar State Beach. Normally you can park your car along the way and walk along the trail to get a closer look at the flowers in full bloom. Here is the blog about the same place wi which I have shared when I visited this place 2 years back: https://www.tweshastraveldiary.com/2018/04/16/california-wild-flowers-monterey-peninsula/

This time we had to make our trip a little different. We parked our car along the way and enjoyed the view of the blooming flowers from inside the car. We enjoyed our packed lunches parked at the beachside overlooking the turquoise ocean. Our experience was all from our car. This was a very different adventure for us. Maybe we could not feel the breeze blowing through our hair, but it was all good. This was possibly once in a lifetime opportunity to see the very hustle-bustle Monterey so desolate and empty in the middle of the day.

A break from our monotonous lives at home is necessary and this was a perfect way to break the boredom we had accumulated.
