As we work towards flattening the curve together in this pandemic, our joy rides within the strict confinement of our car continue. Nowadays we are trying to explore new places to see the springtime wildflowers. These trips indeed help us bring freshness and positivity to our life during these difficult times. Last weekend we drove to the Pinnacles National park. Even though the park was closed due to the lockdown but the drive on state route SR 25 from Highway 101 to pinnacles national park is spectacular during this time of the year.

As you enter SR 25 you pass through the little city of Hollister in San Benito county. It is a fantastic drive across the colorful farms of apricots, peach, and cherry. You can see the famous Bertuccio’s Produce stand which sells dried apricot and pistachios. This time we obviously remained locked inside the car. The fruit farms looked beautiful with the spring blossom. You can park your car near the fields and click a picture from inside. Down the highway you will pass through the sleepy town of Tres Pinos. This town has that wild west appearance with a signature Bakery shop Veranda and the old fashion restaurant named 19th hole.

I wish we could get down and enjoy strolling through the town but our sense of responsibilities ensured we remained locked inside our car with windows rolled up completely.

As soon as we passed by the small San Benito County Historical Park the highway became prettier. Just down the highway, there are rows of spectacular vineyards as the road starts to climb. Surrounding the highways there are beautiful lavender lupines, set off by luminous green fields and vivid yellow wild mustard brightening the meadows. We parked our car near the beautiful Lupins and had our packed lunch enjoying the spectacular display. Even though Pinnacles National Park was closed, the drive was great fun to explore the California wildflower blooms.

More details about the park is available here.
